Frequently Asked Questions

✦ What types of ceremonies do you officiate?

I joyfully officiate weddings, elopements, vow renewals, commitment ceremonies, and sacred unions of all kinds — including LGBTQIA+ ceremonies, spiritual and non-religious ceremonies, nature-based or ritual-style ceremonies, and blended family celebrations.

✦ Do you create custom ceremonies?

Absolutely. I love to officiate ceremonies custom-crafted from scratch to reflect each unique love story, values, and vision. From the opening words to the final blessing, it will feel personal, intentional, and uniquely you.

✦ Do you write our vows?

I offer optional vow-writing support! If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just want help expressing your feelings in a meaningful way, I’ll guide you through exercises, brainstorms, and templates to help you find your words.

✦ What’s the process of working with you?

  1. Inquiry – Fill out the contact form to tell me a bit about you.

  2. Consultation – We’ll hop on a call to feel out the connection and discuss your ceremony vision.

  3. Booking – Once you’re ready, we lock in your date with a contract and retainer.

  4. Creation – I craft your custom ceremony and collaborate with you for edits.

  5. Rehearsal (if needed) – Optional add-on to walk through the flow in person or virtually.

  6. Ceremony Day – I arrive early, grounded and ready, and guide the ceremony with presence and ease.

✦ Are you legally ordained to marry us?

Yes, I am a legally ordained wedding officiant and fully authorized to perform ceremonies that result in a legal marriage in the state of VirginiA. I also travel and work across state lines — just let me know your location and I’ll confirm any local requirements or restrictions.

✦ Do you handle the marriage license?

You will be responsible for obtaining your marriage license, but I will guide you through exactly what’s needed and how to file it. I’ll sign your license with you prior to your ceremony and you may submit it back to the county clerk you received it from within 5 business days. You may acquire any legal copies at the same time you are returning it. Please keep in mind from the moment you receive your license from the county clerk/court you have 60 days to sign, otherwise Virginia requires you to apply for a new license.

✦ Do you travel?

Yes! I officiate ceremonies across Virginia and am available to travel throughout the U.S. (and beyond) for elopements, destination weddings, commitment ceremonies, and retreats. Travel fees may apply depending on location.

✦ Do you perform religious ceremonies?

I offer spiritual, interfaith, religious, and non-religious ceremonies, but I am not affiliated with any one religion. If you'd like to incorporate your cultural, ancestral, or spiritual traditions, I would be honored to co-create something sacred and meaningful with you.

✦ How long are your ceremonies?

Typically, ceremonies last between 15–30 minutes, but this is entirely up to you. We’ll tailor the pace, length, and tone to match your vision.

✦ What’s your ceremony style?

Warm. Grounded. Poetic. Heartfelt. Rooted in presence. Whether you want tears, laughter, or a moment of reverent silence under a tree — I’ll meet you there and hold it all with deep care.

✦ Can we write our own vows?

Yes, and I encourage it! If you’d like help, I offer vow coaching and edits as part of my custom package.

✦ Do you offer ceremony rehearsals?

Yes, typically officiants aren't necessary at rehearsals, however if it is preferred to negate wedding jitters, i am absolutely available for rehearsals as an add-on for couples who’d like to walk through the ceremony ahead of time.

✦ What if we want a very simple ceremony?

Simple can be just as sacred. I offer minimal, legally-binding “Sign & Say” ceremonies for couples who don’t want the fanfare, as well as short & sweet elopements in nature.

✦ Do you offer ceremonies in nature or special locations or times?

Yes — I specialize in outdoor, earthy, nature-inspired ceremonies. Whether in a forest, by the ocean under the moon at midnight, in a backyard garden, or beneath a handmade archway, I’ll meet you wherever and whenever the moment feels most sacred.

✦ How far in advance should we book?

The sooner, the better — especially for peak seasons (spring and fall)! I typically book 6–12 months in advance, but don’t hesitate to reach out about last-minute dates.

✦ What happens if you get sick or have an emergency?

I take this work very seriously and have a trusted network of backup officiants I can call upon in the rare event of an emergency. I will never leave you without a loving presence to guide your day.

✦ What if we want to include rituals or cultural elements?

I love co-creating ceremony elements that honor your heritage, lineage, and soul. Whether it’s handfasting, unity rituals, ancestral blessings, or something entirely new, we can design something meaningful and aligned. If it's preferred or more appropriate a certain element or ritual in your ceremony be performed by a shaman, or cultural/religious leader within your community I am more than happy and honored to collaborate.

✦ Do you perform ceremonies for queer or non-traditional couples?

Absolutely. Love is love, and I hold deep reverence for all forms of union — sacred, spiritual, romantic, queer, platonic, poly, or otherwise.

✦ How do we get started?

Head to the Contact page, fill out the form, and I’ll be in touch within 24 hours. I can’t wait to learn more about your love and explore how we might create something beautiful together.
